HOW AND WHEN TO CHOOSE AN OPEN OR CLOSED KITCHEN

How and when to choose an open kitchen

You have no doubts about the style and can easily navigate between classic, traditional, modern, vintage and shabby chic kitchens. But do you still have some reservations about whether to have a closed kitchen or open kitchen?
A closed kitchen is separated from other rooms in the living area by fixed walls and joining doors; an open kitchen on the other hand eliminates any dividing walls between one room and another, creating a single light-filled open space.
The choice between an open kitchen and a closed kitchen is highly subjective and inevitably reflects the habits of all those who occupy and live in the home space.

A few tips to help you decide:

1. Closed kitchen: every thing in its place

2. Open kitchen: plenty of room for socialising

3. Compromise solutions: open and closed kitchen together

1. Closed kitchen: every thing in its place

It’s better to be blunt, if you are worried about odours and mess, a closed kitchen is better.
The kitchen is one of the most lived-in and often most untidy rooms in the home; it’s where meals are prepared and eaten several times a day and it’s not always possible to keep it perfectly tidy.
Not to mention that in a completely open space, there is no way to contain cooking odours.
The drawback of closed kitchens is perhaps the lack of light: this is why Veneta Cucine integrates top-of-the-range accessories – glazing, open shelving elements and concealed modules – to overcome the problem, resulting in a kitchen that is functional, organised and at the same time bright.

2. Open kitchen: plenty of room for socialising

If you like informality and don’t have much space, then opt for an open kitchen.
Imagine having guests for dinner: an open kitchen immediately makes the atmosphere more informal because those busy preparing aperitifs or dishes are not excluded from the conversation: friends find themselves all together in the same room.

With an open-plan kitchen you will obtain a larger and brighter room and this is the ideal solution for smaller homes.
To tackle the problem of odours, Veneta Cucine offers you a wide variety of high-performance appliances and extractor hoods.

3. Compromise solutions: open and closed kitchen together

Do you like the idea of an open kitchen, perhaps because you don’t have much space, but are afraid to forego closed and divided rooms permanently?
The good news is that there are intermediate solutions: sliding doors, mobile partitions, metal walls, semi-transparent and lightly smoked glass are all decorative elements that will lend your kitchen character whilst keeping spaces separate only when you want.
