Make More 2015: The winners

The prize-giving ceremony was held in the Veneta Cucine Showroom in Milan on Thursday, February 18, where the winning entry in the Make More competition was declared.

Veneta Cucine, Italy’s leading manufacturer of kitchen furniture,  has announced the finalists of the second edition of its “Make More” contest, which is dedicated to conceptual kitchen accessories, with the aim of attracting talented young Italian designers and makers.

The finalists, whose names were announced in January, 2016, were selected by a jury of representatives of the company and from some of our major partners: Daniela Archiutti - Art Director at Veneta Cucine; Paolo Campagnol – architect at Veneta Cucine; Arianna Vignati – Professor of Product Design and Luca Fois – Professor of Design and Events, both from Milan’s Polytechnic Design School; Marco Parolini – Co-founder and CEO of Slow Wood; Marco Scapin – Art Director at Marmo Arredo; Clara Conti – Sales Manager for SAIB; Stefano Giovannoni and Elisa Gargan (Studio Giovannoni); Emmanuel Gallina – industrial designer.

The five finalists are: Internotrentatre with My First Veneta Cucine, an unusual kitchen designed to encourage children to take part in the day-to-day household activities with which they are familiar; Ernesto Ruggiero, whose Carriona is a handy double-face cart for use for entertaining and whose function depends on its position; Federica Paglia with Inviti, simple, minimalist items made using materials which combine attractive appearance and elegant creativity and are ideal for use in the kitchen, at the table, in the home and in the garden, to announce social events involving food; Maria Francesca Caviglia with Coffer, a multi-purpose utensil combining individual wooden platters and spice-dishes, a great time-saver in contemporary cooking; Lu Lu with Ric, a set of utensils dedicated entirely to making ravioli – both Italian and  Chinese – to breathe new life into the rite of preparing food with family and friends and to bringing two different cultures closer.

The prototypes of the projects selected will be produced and presented for the first time, together with the winning project, in Milan in April 2016, during the Salone del Mobile Exhibition.
